Last Friday when I observed I got to stay for three hours and saw some more of the students activities besides their morning work and language arts. After they completed morning work it was time to go to music class. The kids sang alot of the old songs I used to sing when I was a kid which was really cute and brought back memories from when I was in first grade. One of my favorite songs they sang was On Top of Spagetti, and the kids loved it. After music class I took the students back to Mrs. Frank's room and they finished their morning work. During third period they had Spanish and Senior Beltrone came in and helped the students make a card for their family. During the lesson I took some of the students aside to work on their reading quiz and I was able to see who was advanced in the class as well as those who needed more help. Overall it was a great day and I learned alot from the teacher as well as the students and will remember these techniques when I teach in the future.

Today during observing the kids did a science lesson about parts of a plant. Everyone read a story with the teacher about plants and how they grow, then the teacher took out a diagram showing the parts of a plant. Students had the opportunity to come up and put the plant parts in the right places on the diagram. Teacher also had a glass container set up in which students could actually see the growth of seeds. It was very interesting and the kids loved it, after they were done looking at the plant model they went back to their seats and started writing their own story about plant life.
